"Are you kidding!? You seriously didn't hear that?" He burst out at her, turning around. "It was so loud!" He continued, angrily. He knew that he could get glory for continuing the mission at hand, but not bringing back someone made him feel as if he'd be incredibly guilty for not doing the right thing. "Let's go check it out. Or are you too deaf to try?" He said, kind of joking with his insult but then again, he rather meant it. Not waiting for her retort, he began to trek off again.

Having ventured blindly ahead, Cecil had since lost track of the sound he'd elected to follow. Although feeling the urge to keep going, he eventually slowed to a stop. He didn't want to end up lost on their first mission. In fact, he started to think he already had- until he heard another Pokemon approaching from behind.
Volt- the Growlithe's ambitious teammate.
"..." He lowered his mask and attempted a smile, but shortly returned to his usual vacant expression. "You heard it too, then."

"Hey wait u-" The dog ran through the trees, bumping into Volt after she sped through the jungle. Growling and straightening herself up as well, she looked around to see Volt and... oh. Cecil. "What's going on, arent you with the baby- I mean, Wade?" She asked confusedly. "Volt said he's heard some noise, but I think he only wants to make me seem deaf. Hmph!" The dog shot a glare at Volt, sitying straight up like a proper canine.

Cecil's expression, though impassive for the most part, changed to one of slight surprise. "Wade?" He clutched his mask with both hands, glancing between the two other rescuers. He was almost embarrassed to admit that he hadn't been able to keep track of either of his teammates. But there wasn't any use hiding it now. The corner of his mouth twitched into a frown. "... W-well, I could have sworn I was, but- ... as soon as we were ready to go, he disappeared." He looked away and continued in a slightly quieter tone. "Orchid never really showed up either."

Volt ignored Growlie's comment, and nodded to the Yamask. "Yeah, I heard it, and I'm pretty sure it's Wade." He snorted, still glancing around. "He's your teammate, right?" He asked in a more courteous tone. "So, I don't think we have all day, y'know. Let's still see if we can find him, and then try to complete the mission we were originally supposed to be on!" He continued with a slight, eager grin. He turned to Growlie, and kept silent for a while. "DID YOU CATCH WHAT I SAID?" He suddenly yelled, hoping she wouldn't headbutt his stomach in or something, because he was only teasing.

"EEK!" She cried, jumping high as volt cackled to himself; "That was unnecessary!"
Mumbling curse words to herself, she paused before asking Cecil more questions. "You hear Wade, right? So you should be able to tell me what direction you heard him in. I don't trust that stupid loser next to me." She finished with a 'hmph!', and smacked Volt's back (his BUTT) with her tail.

Wade had been knocked out by whatever had flown right at him from the canopy. As he regained conciousness, he groaned. He was lying on his back, still in the forest. However, when he went to move his arms, he realized that he couldn't. Opening his eyes, Wade looked down and saw that he was tightly wrapped in string! As he began to struggle, a small voice below him scolded him. "Hey, settle down! We're just trying to get you outta here!" Wade yelped in shock when he heard the voice. Looking side to side, he saw that he was being carried by a group of Spinarak! While he struggled even more, he saw the glint of something golden out of the corner of his eye. Turning his head to look, he saw Cecil, Growlie, and Volt walking together. "HEEEELP!!!"
"GET IT OUT OF HERE!!!!!!!!!!!"

Cecil was quiet throughout Volt and Growlie's loud exchange. He looked back up when the Growlithe questioned him, but even then, it took him a moment to speak. "... What direction...?" It seemed as if he needed a moment to process the sentence, like he had something else on his mind. But eventually, his eyes widened in recognition, and he slowly turned his head. He opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted instead.
"HEEEELP!!!"
He froze for a moment, giving Growlie a quick glance as if to indicate that her question had been answered. He didn't hear the voice again, and it was difficult to see much of anything through the closely packed trees. But, he wouldn't leave his partner behind on their first mission- ... even though Wade seemingly hadn't kept that in mind. He suddenly began moving again, without a word- if the others wanted to follow, they would.
It didn't take long for him to find the source of the commotion. And he was... quite surprised at what he found. His teammate, subdued by a fair amount of Spinerak and struggling helplessly. He stared at the strange scenerio for a moment longer, clenching his fists.
"... Hey...!"
His voice didn't carry nearly as far as he'd hoped. So, in a feeble attempt to catch the attention of the quickly-moving cluster, he tried again.

Now she heard it. Slapping Volt once again, she cried "COME ON!" and sped towards Cecil; Finally seeing Wade trapped above the disgusting spiders, she approached them and roared "HEY!" and it seemed to have worked. The spinaraks looked as if they were dancing frantically- leaving the scene immediately as Growlie used a small ember to burn one of the spiders. "Oh Arceus.... Wade, didn't you hear what Edgar said! We have to stay together! Don't just leave Cecil alone..." She cried, rising up to his defense. Growlie stomped out of the group in anger, waiting outside the trees just as Volt walked in.

When Wade was free of the spiders, he managed to stand up, even though he was still bound by string. He felt humiliated. Hoping to calmly explain what had happened to Cecil, he started crying before he even opened his mouth. A quiet, clumsy apology tumbled out of his mouth into the dirt, as he tried to waddle past the silent ghost and tripped, falling flat on his stomach as the webs entangled him further and more of his tears spilled onto the already wet forest ground.

Cecil was too relieved to see his teammate alive and well to feel upset (although he wasn't close to forgetting Wade's thoughtless endeavor). But when his partner started to cry, he didn't know how to respond. He clutched his mask closer as the Drilbur attempted to toddle past, but immediately toppled over again.
There was a short moment of silence- Cecil didn't say a word. He just stared at Wade with a void expression.
But, all of a sudden and quite unexpectedly, red tears welled up in the Yamask's eyes. He reached down and gripped his teammate's claws from beneath the layer of string, and pulled him to his feet (it was no easy task- he was quite a lot heavier than he looked). He was silent at first, still holding onto the Drilbur's arm, but spoke soon enough.
"We can work together now, if you want."

As Volt brushed through the forest bushes to where the other three were, he mumbled an "oh jeez," under his breath in relief, noticing that Wade was actually okay. He felt a pang of anger because he didn't do anything to help Wade out of..whatever situation he was just in, as he was the one to hear it first. Keeping his cool, he kept silent, knowing that if he talked, he would probably interrupt a seemingly very crucial moment between Cecil and Wade. He would have to ask Growlie what happened, even though she might just tell him what happened with malice in her tone as always. Then a thought suddenly popped into his head.
Weren't they supposed to be doing something else out in these deep woods?

As Cecil lifted him up, Wade tried to hold back any further tears and bring himself to look at Cecil. He failed at both of those things. Staring at the ground as more tears quietly rolled down his cheeks, he moved his claws a little bit underneath the stringy mess. He glanced over at Cecil's face, noticing that for some reason there were tears in his eyes, too. He held his breath, shut his eyes, and turned toward his partner. "Y-yes. I'd like that. ...A lot."
"Can we stick together from now on?"

Fury raged through her. She was never this mad... maybe it was because her "friend" got in trouble. Yeah right! No friend of hers would get in trouble- at least her past friends didn't. They were strong, unlike him. "Volt!" She shouted, trying to get his attention, "We're leaving!" The dog said as she turned to the other stack entrance in the forest who wasn't blocked by trees. Once he came near her, she whispered "And lets use this as a head start-- It'd be better if we finished off this mission without anymore Pokemon interfering.. yes? Stay by my side."
Those were her last words before she took off, running to the left of the other team.

Volt jumped; He thought she was angry at him for a second, until she told him of the original mission. "Alright, then," He answered her, feeling slightly sympathetic for the other two because of how Growlie just snapped like that. Volt was used to her temper and he knew that the others were too, but what was she getting angry over? Volt didn't care when his secret winning instinct came over him. He followed Growlie, only taking a little glance back toward tall trees.
