Cecil nodded, and smiled- the gesture noticeably less forced than before. Hearing another voice, he then quickly realized that Volt had chosen to follow, and he turned towards him. If the Flaffy's teammate was close behind, they would all be together again... besides the rescuers he hadn't seen embark at all.
And just like that, Growlie stormed in and stormed out, taking Volt with her- and the two teams were once again apart. Glancing back to Wade, he once again noticed that he was tightly wound in string. "..." He blankly stared for a moment- with all of Wade's struggling, not a single thread had snapped (how rude of that Growlithe to leave all of a sudden, without even bothering to help). "... We might want to get that taken care of first."
He slipped a finger under one of the strings, and with a crackling spark, it was lit with a small blue flame, burning away at the silky twine- but just small enough for his friend to easily extinguish it without being burnt.

Finally free from the string, Wade cracked a small smile himself. Taking a moment to stretch his arms, he suddenly grabbed hold of Cecil's hand and began to dash after Volt and Growlie as fast as he could. "We can't let them get too far ahead!"
Having finally caught up enough for the fellow team to be in their sights, Wade slowed down to a walking pace and caught his breath, "forgetting" to let go of Cecil's hand. Soon enough, Edgar, Kaleb, and Lunetta caught up with the rest of them, and the whole group was finally on their way along the forest trail together.

Growlie stopped, turning to Volt. "You see 'em over there?" She growled in a small voice; "We have to go. I've been saving this, but..." She stopped, carefully avoiding his fleece and deciding on where to grab on to him; "I know we're close, and I've picked up the spiders scent." Finally gently biting his tail, she gurgled (her mouth is full) "Awe yoo reddy to gow?" The dog paused to look back, seeing the other team approach; It'd be easier for him to ride her, but he might fall off or something.

A little uncomfortable with Growlie biting his tail, he nodded. "Yeah, yeah. Okay. Let's go." He continued, looking ahead, sometimes glancing at Growlie to make sure she didn't bite down any harder than that. Volt's eyes flashed determination, ready for what was to come ahead, even if he felt some slight uncertainty.

Growlie prepared her stance and shook her tail, wagging it in excitement. She counted to herself slowly, before launching herself- going so fast she left a glow of orange light as she ran. Hoping Volt wouldn't get hurt at how fast she was going (she hadn't used this move in a long time!) and zoomed away! She followed the trail where she thought she smelled the Spinarak, eventually ending up in the darkest part of the Jungle. Finally stopping, she found the ground was solid- unlike the muddy floors of the rest of the forest. She let go of Volt and looked around, seeing skulls either sticking out of the ground or tied to the walls. Strange.

The further they traveled, the darker their environment became. Cecil stared up at the forest canopy, his mind on how far they had come since they embarked. Looking back, they could no longer see the speck of light from which they came. And now, they could hardly see their hands (or claws) in front of their faces. Cecil, mask held in his thin tail, lit a small flame- flickering in one hand, just to light their path.
Growlie and Volt had since sped ahead and left them behind- perhaps they had caught on to where their objective lay. But Cecil could only guess that they were drawing close, judging by the occasional web strewn about, growing thicker as they went. It would be a lie to say that he wasn't a bit uneasy of what was ahead- whether something was actually waiting for them. But he swore he heard something up ahead, although distant, so he kept moving- the fact that Wade was still clinging to him the last thing on his mind.

Once Growlie let go of his tail, Volt stumbled a little bit to the right from Growlie, hitting the nearest tree next to him, that he didn't even notice was there. He regained himself and then checked his surroundings- dark and brooding. "Um, are we sure that this is where we're supposed to go?" He said cautiously, taking a glance at his teammate. He took a step forward, now really uncertain of where they were. Although it was unknown ground, he started forward again, knowing that they needed to finish this mission soon and quickly. This place gave him shivers; the skulls didn't help much either. 'I hope something isn't in these deep woods, let's hope,' He thought, somewhat angrily, but yet fearful.

Growlie acted as if it were nothing, but she kept on looking around the place. In reality, she was terrified! All because of a stupid bug type. In the middle of the room was a large tree. It's large branches seem to have leaves who cover the whole forest.. Strange. "Volt... I think we have to..." She stepped near the tree, before seeing a glowing pair of blue eyes. "EEEEEEK!" She cried, running back and hiding behind Volt. The spider crept downwards, finally landing on the jungle floor. It was a lot larger than it looked, thats for sure!

Feeling the fleece around his neck fluff up in surprise, he backed up a little. Growlie expected himt to do something about it though! ..But that Ariados looked menacing! Double taking between Growlie and the spider, he asked THE MOST OBVIOUS QUESTION ON THE ENTIRE PLANET, "You want me to, what, kill that thing?!" He then realized, that he didn't even have to touch the spider at all.
Duh.
The spider crawled even closer towards the two as Volt puffed out his chest, and let it out, trying to pointing all stored electricity that he had onto the Ariados. Immediately, the spider was electrocuted, and sank, however, it got up shakily after. Yet, as it seemed to try to move again, it couldn't. Volt noticed now that he only paralyzed it, but he was more worried if he shocked Growlie. "You okay?" He asked, keeping a calm facade even though his heart was pounding. He felt a little energized after that for some reason.

A little shocked (literally) by Volt's attack, she stumbled and fell on her back. Few minutes later, she was able to get up on her feet. 'Dang Sheep...' she thought, before actually thinking positivly about him for once. "Whoa..." She started, walking up to the spider. "Good job..!" The slight excitement in her voice made her sure that Volt would be happy.
...Until, she felt a scaly yet slimy twig-like figure snatch her back leg. Shrieking even louder, she panicked, jumping back. The spider arose once more, hissing in what sounded like.... talk? The spider became legible over few minutes- Growlie acknowledged what it was trying to say. "You're in my territory... Why try to to escape once you're heeeeere.....? I have food to consume..... Leeeeave me be..!" It hissed even louder, lunging at Volt. Growlie angrily pounced on it as her paws were ablaze, but she only managed to make little damage- getting thrown back by the force she'd made. "Ouch!"

"EEEEEEK!" Wade jumped when he heard Growlie's shriek- from relatively far away, surprisingly. His hand slipped from his partner's and he jumped a few feet ahead of the rest of the team. "Come on! Let's run! We have to catch up!" Edgar, Lunetta, Kaleb, and Cecil heard him and all seemed to agree. The group began to rush along the path ripped by Growlie's high-speed dash, hoping to arrive before anything terrible happened.

Volt smiled a little at Growlie's praise, now calming down a little.
Volt screeched, nearly getting his by the spider, but alas, he managed to dodge in time. "Hey, are you okay?" He asked, running over, just as the spider turned back around to attack again. Volt turned back around, staying by his teammate's side and sent out fluffy spores from his fleece onto the spider. The spider backed up a little, getting distracted with the spores clinging to its body. He would've shocked the spider again, but he felt kind of tired after that last one. Volt grumbled, knowing that if he tried again, it would be such a pathetic attempt.

Growlie stood up, shaking the dirt off of her. "I'm fine! Get away from me!" She cried, pushing him so that he'd be... away.. and let the spider regain its focus on her. Wagging her tail and going back to her stance, she covered herself in flames and there she went.... Bam! into the spider. It was more of a headbutt than an actual blitz, but this time, she managed to weaken the spider even more than before- but also dealing a great bit of damage to herself. Knocking back, she glanced at Volt, signaling with her eyes for him to do something, and laid her head down so that she could regain at least *some* health. Meanwhile, the spider was leaning at the tree, spurting out some more hateful words towards the two partners.

Cecil moved quickly behind his teammate, careful not to stray from the path. It seemed the other rescuers had managed to find something after all. But judging from the sound they heard up ahead, he could base a solid guess that it wasn’t their target. The jungle landscape grew darker as they went; Cecil’s small flame doing less and less to light their way. However, soon enough he found he didn’t need it anymore.
He squinted as he hurried out of the darkness and into the sudden light. The air was hot and smelled singed, and he could see stray sparks suspended in the air as his eyes adjusted. Recognizing Growlie and Volt among the fray was easy. But one other stranger remained- an enormous spider, tangled in fleece and riddled with burns. A conflicted expression of slight fear and concern appeared on his face. He knew a fight when he saw one. But instead of intervening, he immediately glanced around in hope of spotting their lost mayor. That was their main objective after all. Obstacles or not. Thankfully, the other two rescuers seemed to have things under control. He hadn’t known what to think at first. But seeing them cooperate like this… something told him they made a pretty good team.

Not liking how Growlie pushed him away from her when he was trying to make sure she was okay, he got angry. Instead of confronting her like he would, he faced the spider again, doing a widespread stance, challenging the spider. "You wanna fight?!" He taunted, getting ready to shock the spider once again. Although Volt was heated and ready to attack again, he kept asking himself what his main objective was. It was to find the mayor, but he had a feeling as if this is where the mayor was. Where though? Volt was beginning to doubt himself as the spider inched a little ways from the tree.
