Focused on the current events, Cecil hadn’t registered Kaleb’s question at first. But even if he had, for some reason, he felt he shouldn’t go sharing about his partner’s recent mishap. For the Drilbur’s own sake. He looked back up, squinting through the thickly-packed foliage. “I just thought… I’d heard something.” He mused- maybe he had been imagining things. Or maybe not. He could have sworn he’d caught a glimpse of something out of place…
He faltered for a moment, but gradually drifted further from the ground; towards a particular tree to the side of the clearing that had caught his eye. A few feet above the others’ heads, he glimpsed through the branches, pushing a few to the side with one hand. He grit his teeth as his hand stuck to the leaves. Behind them was a thick coat of silk- draped over the branches and shimmering in what light was found in the dim woods. Oddly beautiful as it was, it only brought a feeling of unease.
But the complicated network of webs wasn’t all he found- staying silent, he pulled the sticky curtain aside to find something entirely different. In that moment, he was more than thankful that the Araidos had fled. Their mission’s cause, a rather flummoxed Slowking, was wrapped tightly in string (no wonder he hadn’t called for help) and hidden in the brush. He didn’t know what to say at first, but he glanced back towards the ground, back to the rescuers waiting down below. He almost called out to Volt, before remembering that he already had his hands full. “… Kaleb!” He called from above, raising his voice a bit. “Come up here, you... y-you should see this!”

Kaleb, still frustrated that no one would tell him anything, sighed as he watched Cecil float up into the trees. For a moment he looked back in the direction he had come, wondering where Lunetta could be.
This first mission isn't going great... He thought disappointedly, beginning to fix his bandana. Guess it could be worse...-
Suddenly Cecil's call to him broke through his thoughts and he looked up once again into the trees. Wasting no time, he flew to stand on a branch near the ghost. "What's up?" He asked, confused as he tried to peer through the leaves in the direction his guildmate was pointing.

Volt raised his head in the direction of Cecil's quiet voice, even if he couldn't help. "What, did you find somethin'?" he asked. Whatever it was, it seemed important. Even though he had gotten a little frustrated, he had to carry Growlie, and since she wasn't awake, she was a little hard to carry. But of course, this was his teammate. No matter how badly they treated each other. Volt hoped they could go back to the guild as soon as possible.

Through the leaves, Kaleb could gaze upon the same surprising sight. To think they were about to move along without a second thought when their lost mayor was right here! Cecil peeked back out from the branches, giving Volt a quick nod before returning to Kaleb's side. His mind was now set on freeing (what would have been) the spider's lunch. A short moment later, he emerged from the vegetation, a familiar Slowking tagging along behind him. The poor Mayor looked exhausted and frayed. A few spare bits of singed string clung to him- Will-o-Wisp had come in handy twice today.
Still, he seemed to be leaning away from his ghostly rescuer. Despite Cecil's good intentions, Chadwick was obviously anything but at ease with his presence. There wasn't much to support his weight as he stepped towards the thinner branches, though, so he was (more or less) forced to reluctantly accept his help. Getting down was a lot harder than getting up, but with some much-appreciated help from Kaleb in keeping things balanced, the Mayor's feet met ground again.
He was obviously more than happy to stand on something solid. Now facing Volt and his fainted cargo, he gave an attempt to look dignified. He stood up straight, but as soon as Cecil brushed a bit of web off of his collar, he flinched- all in all, he only ended up looking silly.

Edgar stumbled through the last bit of brush into a dim clearing, noticing the sun was setting now that the sky was visible. Looking around, he saw some of the guild greenhorns standing about in the area. One was helping his fallen teammate up off the ground (and struggling with said task), and a few others were helping someone down onto the ground. He started to walk towards the small group as they sorted themselves out, when he suddenly recognized him- the mayor! Edgar quickly shuffled over to the mayor, nodding happily at the wispy guy and the ball of feathers. "Mayor! You're okay! I'm so glad we found you! Let's get you back to the guild. We're gonna be warping there, okay? Just stand still." He spoke so quickly that the mayor couldn't even get a word in. As he lifted his badge and its light shone across the both of them, he looked back over his shoulder at the recruits. He pulled a small seed out of his bag and tossed it toward the struggling pink sheep. "Uh, give that to your unconscious friend. It should pick her right up." He looked back toward his badge. "I hope you guys are fine with walking back. Just, uh, make sure you get home before night falls." Those were the last words he spoke before both him and the mayor disappeared in a blinding pillar of yellow light.

Volt snorted with what sounded like mild annoyance. Setting Growlie down on the ground with a sigh of relief, he picked up the seed the Lombre flung towards him before leaving and coaxed Growlie's mouth into eating the seed and stood back once he thought she had swallowed it. 'He's right though.' He thought worriedly, looking up towards the forest canopy. 'We should really be getting back. I just hope that Wade already went back to the guild so we don't have to do another tiresome scavenger hunt.'

A yellow-orange light flooded her eyes as her throat and now stomach were burnt by the taste of the Reviver seed. After she opened her eyes, she rolled to the side and groaned; Reviver seeds always made her sick. Finally standing up after a few minutes of rolling around, she shook her whole body, splashing the mud everywhere. "What did I miss?" She said drowsily, regaining her balance. Turning to Cecil, she asked, "Wheres Wade?" Then to Volt- "What happened?"

Volt frowned. "Well, you got knocked out by Wade when he tried to help once more with the spider. The spider got away, and Wade ran off somewhere. We already found the mayor and that...Edgar guy took the mayor back to the guild with his badge." He explained. He dare not tell her when his own attack reflected off of Wade and hit her, however. "This mission was kind of a mess," he admitted, sort of angry (although he felt a pang of relief) that the mayor was so easily taken back to the guild without work from the team members. Glancing around the area once more, he added with edge to his voice, "We should go back."

Cecil almost winced at Volt’s straight-forward explanation. The mission hadn’t gone quite as smoothly as they had hoped, no. But, they had accomplished their one and only task. Making sure that the mayor was returned safe and sound, right? Despite their first mission being a unanimous success, their spirits were anything but high.
He glanced between the two, and soon after hearing Volt’s suggestion, sounded his agreement. He stared up at the partly exposed sky above them as he passed the other rescuers, waited a moment, and then continued in the direction in which they came. It wouldn’t be fitting for them to get lost in a pitch-dark forest on the night of their first mission.

Kaleb followed Cecil hesitantly, trying to take in what had just happened. Contemplating whether or not that mission was really much of a success, he thought the day over to himself and realized he still didn't really know where Lunetta was at all. He was getting pretty worried. Waiting a moment after the thought came to him, he wondered if anyone was even in the mood to hear it. But they've got to care. She is their guildmate after all, right? He thought a bit nervously.
Maybe she just stayed behind. I guess sometimes a rescuer's first mission can be pretty nerve-wrecking. I bet she's just back at the guild with the others. He managed to reassure himself before focusing on just getting back to the guild in one piece.

Growlie looked at the both of them and sighed- not out of anger but.. Confusion. She needed to talk to Wade, and hopefully he'd face her. How childish! Growlie snapped out of her thoughts and headed to the entrance of the clearing. "I don't understand why exactly Edgar would leave us here, but.." She started, turning around to look at them; "We should be going now. We've got to tell Sunny what happened, yeah? Let's go." The dog stated in a leader-like voice. She looked up at the sky once more, before looking back down and heading back into the forest.

Volt mumbled his agreement and followed Growlie out of the clearing. Volt sighed, wishing Edward--sorry, Edgar-- had taken them back the guild with him. Making sure all members were following behind him, his eyes lit up in relief when they were finally out of the forest. Volt wanted nothing else to do beside rest as they approached the guild entrance.

Finally back. Their mission had gone quite differently than they had planned- at least, differently than what Cecil had in mind. But he couldn’t quite complain. Making it home in time with the Mayor (hopefully) safe and sound was more than he could have asked for.
It was a pleasant surprise to find Sunny waiting for them so late into the evening, there to give them a short word of congratulation upon their return. Cecil couldn’t help but smile slightly as she commended them on the completion of their first success. But before the conversation grew too long, they were dismissed to their respective rooms to wait out the evening and relax until they were called to dinner.
Cecil found his way to his own team’s quarters without saying much to the other rescuers, but glanced back towards them as he disappeared into his room to make out with Wade. oh myGod

Volt immediately relaxed when they got back to the guild, finding himself smiling at Sunny's congratulatory words. He sauntered towards his room afterwards to rest for a while, but then he kept reminiscening on the events of their first misson. Suddenly growing a little angry, as if wiriness wasn't enough, he knew that he had to tell Sunny what happened in that forest. He paced back and forth a little bit, mumbling to himself; asking himself if ratting on Wade like that was the right thing to do. He did this for a while, but he didn't know why he had to think about it so much. His thoughts were interrupted when he heard the call for dinner several minutes later.
Volt shook all doubts out of his head and quickly headed out of his room to the cafeteria. It's not a crime if he's being honest.
He arrived at the cafeteria a little while after some other pokemon came in, and it wasn't too noisy since it was sort of late. He looked around for his teammate, but gave up on that and started to look for Sunny instead.

Wade woke up from his nap with a start when the dinner bell rung through the hall. He looked around the room groggily, not noticing Cecil as he got up and walked out, eyes half shut. He was alert by the time he reached the dining hall, settling down at the seat he was in the last dinner. He almost felt like the rest of his night would be decent, until he overheard a small exchange near the doorway. "Miss Sunny, I have something important to tell you about the mission." "Please hold on, Volt. I will hear what you have to say after we are all settled down, when everyone is listening." Oh boy.
